GM transmission and other questions

ok so I'm new, a fellow named Jason who is an employee sort-of me sales for link asked me to do some research in regards to my truck. I think its an issue as far as making the transmission work well? He asked me to see about this link working with my 2003 chevy avalanche. This is a youtube called project avalanche that I'm starting. I'm going to be installing a turbo and I want it to be controlled correctly. What I'm seeing on youtube isn't what I would call correct. Basically using hp to trick the ecu and making it work. I understand there is a ton more to it than Making ot work. My ecu isn't designed to recognize boost ...obviously... so that ability to control everything all while making my ecu and trans stuff function correctly is quote " difficult " gamma and all .. this is getting past my education. I simply understand how things work mostly but when it comes to the specific parameters and over all settings? Im a little too novice. Does anyone know or can help me make my factory truck run a turbo and have all the function of it being factory? Any help would be great.

It will be a difficult one to put a standalone on, probably not something I would bother with since the factory ecu is so widely supported in the US.  The factory ecu can run a boosted engine no worries.  The trans and communication with other electronic modules in the car such as the dashboard will likely be an issue for most standalones unless you find someone that makes a plug-in ecu kit designed specifically for that model.

Oh ok.. so it was brought to my attention that my ecu won't be able to recognize boost in a proper way to be able to have safe full control. Makes sense what your saying being guys are doing it all the time. Like I said I'm very new to the ecu or any kind of plug in for an ecu to help with factory one. Its a lot to try and understand. I get it sort of just gets very complicated. Ok well a rep from LINK was gonna hand me one to try and use. Ill keep asking and see what all information I can get. I appreciate your help and making me feel more ok with doing a proper boost application. I want it to be correct and safe

It is likely possible to reflash your ecu to a speed density mode of firmware that would allow you to run a 2 or 3 bar map sensor.  This is pretty commonly done when boosting more than a few psi on factory GM ecus.
