Wildt267
I was hoping to pick the engineers' brains on the ej257 platform. I've got a built motor with very noisy pistons, and an equal length header. I was wondering if you folks noticed a propensity for cyl 4 to knock in the midrange on your test car. i've added a little more fuel to that cylinder but condition persists. Going to pull a degree of timing out of it next but i was hoping for any additional insight first. Just seems off to me. Curiosity is getting the best of me. Thanks for information you may provide
dx4picco
what fuel are you using and what pressures are you seeing?
Adamw
Adding fuel is typically not very effective knock supression on 4 stroke piston engines - unless IAT is very high and you are using a high HOV fuel like methanol or ethanol. Pull 5 deg timing out to confirm if it is knock. Yes, cyl 4 is usually the first to knock on the subarus.
