Dima
It would very good if clients their ECU are under Password protection will be able to clear ECU fault codes without unlocking password.
Simon
Only issue I could see with this is that you then might loose some clues of what a problem was should there be a major issue.
Dima
for example my client had problem with EGT sensor. After reading error, logs he fixed it, but check light was turned ON at dash board. The ECU was protected and I was not able to connect to him. If tuner has a lot of clients it will be nice to make our customer more independent in my opinion))).
mapper
Plus one for that, since every customer can do that on an OEM ECU and i don't think we should give the customer the feel that a LINK ECU limits him more than the factory one. The opposite are the driving argument to go for a standalone. Maybe a option to just reset the light and leave the errors in the event manager could be a good option, too. mapper
I realised today, that cusomer have much to much restrictions if I setup passwort protection.- they can't make or store their own layouts, since there is now layout menu. - Can't do PC-Logs, which is quite bad if i have to do remote diagnostic. - they can calibrate the TPS but don't can save it. LINK Tech please do a user adjustable passwort protection. I dont want that other tuners use my maps, that's all. Think we should cut functions to much with passwort protection. Otherwise the customer has the feel to be quite restriced similary to a OEM ECU, and they may ask oneself, where are the benefits the tuner promised? Scott
Hi guys,This is a good suggestion. Currently we have on the request list an item to make the password protection level adjustable.
mapper
Hi guys,This is a good suggestion. Currently we have on the request list an item to make the password protection level adjustable.I know ;-) so would be good if you regard the details I mentioned, when you make the changes. Besides sorry for so many typos above, hope corrected most of them ;-) Back to topic. just sent a new passwort protected map to a customer. After he loaded it to the ECU, the TPS calibration was wrong and all the time at 100%. I used the last map i saved on the ECU as a base. Don't know why that happened. Now, I have to connect via Teamviewer, because i don't want give out the password. And as I mentioned he can calibrate TPS, which works, but don't save it.
