I dont see anything obvious in the log or tune.  Dwell is stable and well controlled which is usually a good indication that trigger etc is happy.

The engine speed ROC was a little erratic with low tooth count triggers in early firmwares, so I dont think there is anything unusual there, the calculation was improved in later firmwares so you will probably find if you update firmware that will be more stable.

Have you checked base timing?  Your offset of -10 is odd for an evo, my Evo 7 is +1deg.

Yes I checked my timing when the engine is first fitted. Car is evo 6 but engine is from evo 8. I will check the base timing again may be some fluctuations occured because of engine’s first start after long time sitting or not stable idle etc. And also after I opened this topic I check and my frimware and it is 6.17.8. I updated the firmware but can not have time to test car.

  2. Hello, can you please check this map and log if there is anything wrong? This log file is on 3rd gear low rpm pull to 5400 rpm. Issue is when I make wot car feels like totter. I mean its like misfiring but its not actually no backfire or bangs on the exhaust. What I notice is Engine Speec ROC goes to -299 at 4897 rpm, and some rpms again goes to - and some rpms goes high 1500 (what should be the range for engine speed roc?). Sometimes I have this kind of feeling on tuning other cars and when I advance timing egnige accelerates more smooth but my ignition timing is not low too much. By the way for this issue I lowered spark gaps to 0.6mm and also I installed my wasted spark cop kit with yaris coils but nothing changed.

  3. Hello all,

I read before there is issue on fuel cut when injectors pass 100% duty cycle and the solution is use ignition cut or upgrade fuel system capacity. But I have same issue when use ignition cut as cut type on 3 different customer car. 2 is have the same issue only 1 time but one them have this issue 2 time in a week. Is there someone to advise me ? I'm ussually using 85 to 95% end cut setting, 80-95%/20ms exit decay rate, 30-100 rpm limit control range.
2 xtreme plugin (one of them for honda, one of the for bmw e36)
1 xtreme (not plugin on honda engine)

    Thanks.

  4. Hello, Can I ask what is the difference for base maps for Evo4-6 and Evo 7-8. In G4+ evo4-8 uses same base map.  And also trigger mode are different for evo1-6 and 7-9, can I ask the difference? Because I'm using evo 7 engine on my evo 6, so is it dependent on crank sensor or engine wirings?

    Thanks in advance.

How sure are you there are two sync teeth?  I have never seen one with two sync teeth, only usually a single tooth but two sensors.  All the pics I can find on google only have a single tooth.

If you have two sync teeth, then yes you will need to remove one.

I'm sorry my mistake, there is two sensor and one sync teeth. Is it an issue ? Because I think it will read 2 times in 360 degrees ?

This thread may have some info if you havent seen it:

Hi, I’m wiring a link monsoon x to ep92 startlet with 4efte engine. There is 24 tooth for crank sensor and 2 tooth for cam sensor on oem trigger sustem. Am I need to cut/shave one of the cam tooth?

  7. Hello, this is plugin for m50tub25 engine. Is the sockets same with m50b25 non vanos engine wirings? Can I use this plugin ecu with just changine the cam sensor type? (if I correct only difference is non vanos engine hass reluctor sensor when compared with m50tub25).

Change the stoich value to 9.8, this will bring you pretty close to correct.  Unless you have flow tested the injectors specifically with e85 then I would make a guess and change injector flow rate to about 1500cc.  Most injectors will flow 10-15% less ethanol than their quoted petrol/n-heptane flow rate.

Hi, it looks like I will max out fuel table also in a rb26 engine. Injectors are id1000 at 4 bar base fuel pressure which ID says 1180 cc and correct dead times and on idle VE numbers are about 70%. Stoich value is 14.7 but this is correct also because of pump fuel. How can I lower the values to around 50?

Disarming speed setting uses the driven wheel speed.

Attach a log and your tune if you need further help.

Thanks, I make driven wheel speed source to gp speed 1 (like driving wheels) and 3d mode with single axis like Vaughan wrote and works perfect now.

  10. 3 hours ago, Vaughan said:

If you want Launch control to always be active under 10kph then set the Activation Control to Always ON and the Disarming Speed to 10 kph. G4X doesn't have a specific 2D Launch mode so use the 3D Mode with a single axis on the table.

I actually did what you write but it didn’t work so I thought it doesn’t work like that. But probably I did something wrong. What axis should I use ? And also ecu shows driving wheel speed and driven wheel speed which show be selected for speed source.

  11. Hello, on honda b seriss engines because of their reluctor crank and cam sensors I have issues. Mostly when change the distributor issues gone. Issue is trig1 and trig2 are “yes” when I checked from f12 but trig1 error counter rises and engine misfires. When I played with trigger arming threshold (I always use what link help filre writes for b16 and b18 engines on engine specific tab) sometimes it solves the issues but I want to have a detailed information. I read the help file but I information about what is the effects of decreasing or increasing voltage settings just for my knowledge.

If you do a cam angle test on LH inlet cam, with a test pulse count of 8, are the reported cam angle numbers in the runtimes screen stable?  Can you list the numbers.

They are usually change in 4-5 degreese and sometime for ex: cam7  will be the lowest and sometimes cam5 or 3 is the lowest number. And let say cam7 is lowest and 27.4  after rpm lockout lowest number is 31. If you want I will record a short video and attach here. But I can do it in next week because customer lives at different city.

Here is the RX8 throttle info from 5.6.6:

Hello Adamw,  in attached photo there is a relay for generic wiring ethrottle. Now I will install mazda rx8 throttle to honda b18c engine with link xtreme black ecu for my customer. Am I need to wire relay ? ( Because one of my tuner friend used rx8 throttle on audi tt plugin ecu without relay and it works great). And when you have time can you please check my cal and log on bmw s50b30 engine I attached on link ecu forums:

Hello, I tuned this engine but I think vanos system is not working. I see aux 3 and 4 goes to on and off but Inlet LH error counter continously increase. I take a log and I attached the log and calibration which is fuel numbers tuned.

I want to ask how can I check if vvt works (not only for this engine for general vvt system like subaru, toyota etc for ex: I tuned many hondata kpro and there two parameter cam command which is what ecu commands and cam which is actual cam degree), I mean when I compare Inlet LH target and Inlet LH possion should they match with each other ?

By the way attached .lte file I can not open to see the degrees for vanos vvt deegree can you check if mine is ok or can you please attach a screen shot etc.

    Thank you.

Ok, both trig 2 and DI 1 are needed.  DI2 is not needed and not used.

The wire coming out the top side of the vanos unit is the advance solenoid (aux 4) and the wires out the bottom are the retard solenoid (aux 3).

Map attached below with most of the basics set up.  Once you have the engine running you will need to turn on the LH Cam angle test (use test pulse count of 8) and use that to determine the offset number for DI1.  This procedure is explained in the help file page: G4+ ECU Tuning Functions > VVT Control > Tuning VVT Control > Cam Angle Test

Thank you for great support again. After that on vvt inlet target table is there any starting degrees you can advise ?

There are two different cam patterns for this engine, some have 8 evenly spaced teeth, some 6+1, which is why the triggerscope is needed.

Hi, today customer bring the car to me. I take a trigger scope and also I have questions if you can help me I will be happy because I never tuned bmw vanos system.
I attached calibration and also trigger scope.
I atached some pictures, and write which one is connected to where but I don't know if its correct. Trigger 2 is connected the middle sensor and engine works (I wrote Trig1 on picture by mistake but it is Trig2). Digital inputs connected to the ecu  but they are not active because of I don't know if they are correct. And also I don't know the hz or offset numbers for this engine. Also I attached picture (you attached before) I just can be sure and didn't find on google which is retard solenoid and which is advance  solenoid.

    Thank you for support.

The S50B30 should have the high pressure vanos on inlet cam only.  It should have two solenoids - one for advance, one for retard.

Advance solenoid is the top one, retard is the bottom.  You need to cut the connectors off and fit something generic as the factory connectors have diodes in them designed for highside drive.

If you do a triggerscope and post it I will be able to suggest most of the settings from that.

Hello Adamw, yesterday I went next to the car (different city) and the vanos system is like you picture you attached up. So its single vanos owner and mechanic think two vanos because of two solenoids.I make a road tune without vanos (just for drive the car to rod adjustment etc) I forgot to take a triggerscope but its single vanos so can you suggest me the settings please ? Or if you want I can have a triggerscope in couple days and attach.

  18. Can someone share a calibration or vanos settings and degrees for me for bmw s50b30 engine? Ecu is xtreme and customer told me dual vanos but one solenoid for one camshaft.

    thanks.

  19. Hello, yesterday I sold my evo 4-8 ethrottle plugin ecu to evo 8 (my car is evo6). I upload the base calibration into the ecu and changed the trigger mode to evo 7-9. Map sensor and tps sensor calibrated but engine didn’t start. I make test to injectors and coils and they are working. Trigger 1 and 2 are yes on cranking and no trig error. Evo 8 is european market version. Is there any jumper or setting I need to check ?

  20. Hello,  I’m wiring link g4+ monsoon to suzuki h25a v6 engine with wasted spark setup but I’m stuck some places and need help.

    engine’s firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2

I check that 1-4 is at top together, 2-5 is at top together and 3 -6 at top together. So I will wire ignition coils 1-4 together, 2-5 and 3-6 together.

my question is how I should wire injectors ?

engine’s crank and cam sensor is just like nissan rb engines, it has 360 outer tooth with 6 inner toorh (each tooth goes bigger). I will attach picture of cas sensor.
