Was setting up an ecu configuring it offline. powered up and connected ECU to laptop with no issues, uploaded the PCL file and the ecu Restarted, when prompted to carry out a store function i did so and then ecu disconnected and threw up an error message,. This is the debugging info it has asked me to Email - which i have done so. just wondering if anyone here can shed some light however.

Try completely unplugging ecu for a couple of minutes (main ecu connector), reboot your laptop while your waiting then plug ecu back in, power up and try to connect again.  If it doesn’t connect try running the firmware updater again and see if that connects.  Report back what happens.

Hi Adam

I have tried all the obvious things. rebooting, shutting everything off and coming back to it, swapping USB ports etc. zero luck there. With it in Auto connect mode it goes in a loop where it has a pop up window displaying the error message with a yes or no box. due to this i cannot perform a firmware update. With it in manual mode it cannot detect a connection.

is that message when you open the firmware update tool?

Is the ECU showing under COM ports in windows device manager?  Do you have anything else connected to the ECU like a CAN device?

the error pops up which trying to auto connect. have not been able to access the firmware update tool.

no CAN devices connected. ECU powered up only. Recognised in device manager when connected to USB.

Set to manual connection and then with the PC link not connected run the firmware update. (The updater runs as an independent program)

Thanks for this method, what I did on several occasions is to install some previous version of PC Link and I could update the ECU
