Adamw
Try completely unplugging ecu for a couple of minutes (main ecu connector), reboot your laptop while your waiting then plug ecu back in, power up and try to connect again. If it doesn’t connect try running the firmware updater again and see if that connects. Report back what happens.
Simon-AE86
Hi Adam I have tried all the obvious things. rebooting, shutting everything off and coming back to it, swapping USB ports etc. zero luck there. With it in Auto connect mode it goes in a loop where it has a pop up window displaying the error message with a yes or no box. due to this i cannot perform a firmware update. With it in manual mode it cannot detect a connection.

Is the ECU showing under COM ports in windows device manager? Do you have anything else connected to the ECU like a CAN device?

Simon
Set to manual connection and then with the PC link not connected run the firmware update. (The updater runs as an independent program)
ericsiewkk
i have the same thing happen on an evo3 plugin. take the ecu out and connect a 9v battery to the power and ground. run firmware update and it works fine after this.
