Monsoon no spark.

Help needed. I have a link monsoon with loom that I have fitted to my mk1 escort to run a Cosworth yb engine. All together and fitted so trying to get it up and running. The ecu has come with a base map. My problems are to set a base timing. I’ve got a timing gun and proved it works by putting the ecu in test mode but when cranking engine I have no spark ?

As Kris said in your other thread. Provide a copy of the tune, a log of it cranking and a trigger scope of it cranking.

There can be many things that cause this. If it sparks during the test at least you know the wiring and coils are right. So it's now some other condition that's not being met.

That could be the ECU isn't seeing the correct rotation or position of the engine or it's in a engine kill state to prevent it from starting due to a lack of a certain input. We can help figure this out by seeing your tune and logs.

There is no fuel pump even set up in the map you attached.

If you have no spark while cranking then that would usually indicate a trigger issue - the ecu is not receiving an engine position signal it understands.

Start with a trigger scope.  To do this, go to >ecu controls>trigger scope.  Start cranking the engine, and click the capture button on the trigger scope screen while it is cranking.  Keep it cranking for a couple of seconds further after clicking capture.  Then click the save button and attach a copy of that file here.

Your ecu is set up for "RS500" trigger mode, but your scope shows it has an aftermarket 36-1 crank trigger wheel mixed with a 2 tooth RS500 cam trigger.

Change the trigger settings to below should work.  Im not sure on the offset, but I would try it around -90 or +270 and check if you can see the marks with a timing light from there.

The triggerscope wont give us much further info than we already had except that the tooth count now matches what the ecu expects.

I assume you have a spark now?  Have you checked the timing?  Are there still no signs of life?

Hi yes thanks. I now have a spark so got the timing somewhere near at 90 degrees and noticed that the fuel pump seems to have started to kick in and out. Guess I’m ready to try a first start. Just waiting on another k20 coil as one has gone down.

Hi I’ve re checked the the base timing and got it at -71 which seems a lot closer and ran it up seems a lot better. But waiting on a lead to plug through the coil to be able to do a live running test so could still be a bit out. It does seem better but still hunting a bit and not to good at ticking over. Also noticed that  the on screen lambda gauge is not doing anything it has the link can all connected up. I’ve had a bit of a look around the settings but I’m a bit lost. If that is not working would that add to it not running to good. My aim is to find a tuner that is capable of setting this up but would like to get some running in miles before it gets a thrashing. Thanks Arron

Hi just popped back up the garage as it was bugging me about the lambda and found the loom I was sent had the green and white reversed so popped them out and changed them over now I can see it when searched for but not to sure about the final stage where it says please cycle power to the can device. It leaves me stuck on the screen after clicking send ? Also getting slightly familiar with it now I have also managed to add in a rev counter. Any advice would be great thanks.
