unfunk
Hi all, I'm pretty sure the ECU on my (Australian) 1993 SW20 is on the way out. If it is, I'd rather replace it with a new part that's more capable than the original if possible. The MR2Link pages specifies that it's designed for the 3SGTE, but given how similar they are, does it also work on the naturally aspirated 3SGE? If so, how difficult is it to enable that? Thanks! koracing
What part number is on your factory ecu case? 89661-17XXX ? Can you take a photo of the wiring and connectors going into your ecu?
unfunk
My ECU model number is 89661-17370 It also has the number 175700-3713. Unfortunately I lack the tools to get to it right now without breaking the clips or tearing the carpet/board :/
Adamw
One of our ST ecus will definitely work, but I cant really confirm which one without seeing the connector/wires or inside the case. There is not a whole lot of info floating around for 89661-17370 unfunk
koracing
You'll want the ST205X ecu I'm fairly certain. I can tell from the white EA1 connector attached to the side of the ecu in your pic that it is a later MR2 Gen 2 ecu with 3 rows of pins in that white connector (aka V2). The MR2 Turbo gen 2 3SGTE ecus of the same era are -17380 and -17390. Earlier MR2 Turbo ecus that would use the ST185X would be -17330, -17331, -17332 (aka V1). These earlier ecus did not have the white EA1 connector attached to the ecu and it was only a 2 row connector (wrapped in foam). unfunk
OK, colour me impressed that you can tell that from a partial picture of a connector alone! Thank you very much for your assistance, I'll have a chat with a local distributor now
koracing
I've tuned a few hundred 3sgte mr2s, and been specializing in them for 20+ years. pasta
