Flyboy
Hi - Newbie here... I'm using a G4X Extreme on a custom build with a wiring harness from scratch. I'm pretty far from first engine startup, but trying to check my wiring harness. ECU powers up and I connect fine from my PC. I was expecting to see sensor data when connected to the TPS, OP, MAP, Air Temp, etc. However, I'm only seeing static data with fixed values for MAP (85) Oil Temp (90), OP (0), IAT (20). The only value that is changing is batt voltage. I've checked the probes and they are getting voltage (5V). Either I don't understand how the software works (likely) or somehow all these probes have wiring issues. Any help is appreciated!
Vaughan
Have you gone into the ECU Settings and setup each of the appropriate An Volt and AN Temp inputs?
Flyboy
No. I didn't know I had to do that. I can't seem to find the manual for the G4X on the website, only the manuals for the G4X plug in manuals. Do you know where I can find that? I only have the quickstart guide. Vaughan
The help manual is in PCLink, pressing F1 takes you to help for the thing you currently have selected. I have attached an example picture of how the setup is done.
koracing
That looks like the wrong software analog input screen (Looks like G4+): 3 hours ago, Vaughan said: In the G4X/G5 tuning software you'll have to go to each sensor and pick which input and calibration you connected for each sensor. Adamw
This is a G4+ based on the OP's pics. I assume the mention of G4X in the first post is a typo. I have moved to the G4+ section.
Flyboy
Thank you! You are correct, it is a G4+. I have been able to make some progress on a few of the sensors, but not yet on the ones that use maps. I'll keep working on it using the built-in help. I did find someone doing a similar build using the same G4+ on a GM LM4 (I'm using a GM L33) and same wiring harness diagram. He sent me his PCLR file. If I load that, will it include all of the settings for the sensors, maps, etc. or do I need something else? Just trying no to reinvent the wheel here as a starting point. It will but I would advise checking how they wired their engine by looking at what each input and output is set to in their tune to see if they are in different places. If your pinout doesn't match his can then you can copy settings from the it but I wouldn't recommend loading it into your ECU.
Flyboy
Thanks! Is there a way to "read" a PCLR file? Or just load it in and go through everything?
Confused
You can open two copies of PC Link software and open the PCLR file you have in one, and work on your own configuration in another window. I've done this many times when comparing (even though, yes, there is a built-in Compare function) or copying from one to the other.
Aviator
Hey Flyboy I’m also in the initial wiring steps on my L33! Are you able to send the file to me? It would be a great help!
