Guest grant620
Hi there, Are you able to add a custom trigger pattern to the system so that we can run a G4+ Atom on a "Rover" engine? We have been using a different brand of ECU on these as the trigger pattern is already there... Basically it's a 36t wheel with 4 gaps. The gaps are uneven so that the ECU knows where the engine is: The one on the right is correct  Would really like to do some plug and play looms and start selling some of these as the Atom is a fab ECU for the money! Simon
Hi Grant I suspect we have that pattern in there already. Would that be off the 1.6L rover K series engine?
Guest grant620
The K series has 2 types of 4 gap pattern, commonly known as Type 2 and Type 3. (Type 1 was a 2 gap setup). Can you tell from the picture if the 1.6L K16 pattern you have is the same? Mode 3, which is what we need is:Â Gap, 4 teeth, Gap, 11 teeth, Gap, 5 teeth, Gap, 12 teeth Mode 2, which is earlier Rover, inc some 1.6s is: Gap, 3 teeth, Gap, 13 teeth, Gap, 2 teeth, Gap, 14 teeth
Simon
The current pattern we have decode matches Mode 2. We can look at add the Mode 3 but this will take a bit of time.
Guest grant620
Thanks. Can you add it to the wish list please? I was buying a different ECU for this application, but this is no longer possible (company has closed!), so need to move forward ASAP with these. AbbeyMS
Grant will be a good move over to Link from the other people. Far better system
Guest grant620
I agree Mark. We use Link on the Nissans and Mitsubishis already. Just that the other brand which has just closed down had great support for the Turbo Rovers and we had loads of base maps to get cars running. Was looking to do this anyhow, but had the push needed now!
Simon
Have put on wish list. It looks like we have had one scoped in the past. In a Lotus.
Guest grant620
That would be correct if it was a 1.8 and/or VVC engine
Grant Baker
Can I bump this? Any luck with adding this in?
Grant Baker
Bump again...Customer is debating which ECU to buy right now and it will have to be a decision he makes based on whether we can do the "VVC" Style trigger...
Dave Kriedeman
Hi Grant,no good bumping mate,LINK are shut until next week as they do every year for Christmas and New Year break.I can not say what is happening with this until they come back to work, sorry I can't help.RegardsDave. Simon
Hi GrantI have had a chat with the engineers and have to say its not going to be quick getting it in to the firmware, Got a bunch of other items further up the list. How many sales a month do you think could be picked up if we got it in at some point? Grant Baker
If this is not something you are planning to do in the near future then we will probably look at alternatives like fitting a 36-1 trigger, or unfortunately, a different ECU.It is a real shame as the "Mode 2" you have already is the least common by a long way! "Mode 3" is standard on 95% of MG-Rover engines, including those fitted to Caterham, Lotus, Westfield etc.
Simon
Yeah part of the reluctance to add triggers now is due to the amount of odd one off type application requests. If the volume is there and its even 1 every couple of months then is much more worth while. Each trigger addition takes about 3 days of engineering time once all the testing is done so is a bigish task for each one. At this point in time its not going to be high on the todo list.
Grant Baker
Totally understand. I'll do some hard research and see if I can give you an idea of numbers.
Point85
Also very interested in this. Can we make it happen? Looking to fit an atom to our Caterham development car with the view to making adapter looms to sell on to customers. I expected the rover trigger pattern to work already as its so common (Rovers, Elises, Caterhams, MGs, etc etc) but looks like it doesn't.... For now. Scott
Hi,We actually have done some work on implementing this trigger mode. However we need some testing to be done for us in order to finish it off. If you are interested in helping with this please send an email to [email protected]Scott.
