  1. Hi efi265, no problem , continue when you are back. Regards Dave.
  2. Hi Sutkale, losing communication from ECU to LAPTOP is normally a good indication you are either, 1. Running non resistored plugs 2. Fouled or partially fouled sparkplugs. 3. Noise from alternator or ignition sources , referring to HT noise, ignition triggering signals especially if using a CDI unit. Regards Dave.
  3. Hi loboone, The answer to your first question is yes, but maybe costly to have manufactured unless a later engine version is available with a sync sensor. So in your scenario you would obviously run a crank trigger and the old Distributor, you could remove the internals and manufacture a single tooth chopper and use either a mag reluctor sensor or hall effect sensor. Using crank and cam reference will enable you to use full sequential fuel and ignition, obviously you will need coil on plug or remote coils. As far as net power gains , there will be minor gains to be had, the big bonus is being able to tune each cylinder individually if need be. You may also find nicer idle, cruise and transient qualities. I would suggest a LINK STORM, as this will give you more inputs and auxillary outputs etc than the ATOM. I hope this is of some help. Regards Dave
  4. Hi muzzytt, with the true Traction Control set up you only have two tables available. You can setup 1 digital input as Disable Traction Control and a second digital input to select a second table. So you have the following abilities OFF, TRACTION CONTROL TABLE 1 (When OFF switch is disabled) TRACTION CONTROL TABLE 2 when the dedicated digital input for table 2 is activated So the answer to your set up in TRACTION CONTROL SETTINGS is NO. However you could setup a rotary switch with a different resistor soldered to each switch point of varying resistance and then set up your own basic traction control creating limiters and or ignition correction tables to retard power via boost reduction or ignition retard etc to control traction to a degree. Using voltage differences as one of the axis on your table. Regards Dave.
  5. Hi Tomas_St, what serial number is the ECU and what firmware are you using. What engine do you have to create a base map for. I am unaware of a base MAP registra for theses ECU's , if you can not setup the base file on your own you should really be seeking the assistance of an experienced tuner. Having the a Base Map is one thing, whether or not it works with your setup is another thing. I am not doubting your abilities etc , just trying to eliminate heartache and stress if things go wrong. Regards Dave.
  6. Hi Peter, I don't know if Simon's email address has changed or not it was [email protected] or [email protected] you can PM him or you can send it to myself [email protected] . Either way Simon will get it. I can run the file on my simulator and test for you if you wish also and can guarantee strict confidentiality. Regards Dave.
  7. Hi efi265, I have answered your other post. Please reply to that post with all the details I have requested. Double posting makes things hard to keep track of. Regards Dave.
  8. Hi efi265 , what ecu are you using, what engine is it and what type of idle control is it using or is using Electronic Throttle (DBW). A copy of your pcl file will be very handy also. Regards Dave.
  9. Hi Stephan, I have looked at both the log files and the pcl file (MAP). The FUEL MAIN table has 100% not been tuned correctly at all as you can see in the attached screen shots. The reason for the issue is due to excessively and dangerously lean conditions. If you look at the boost open throttle log you will also notice undulated lines in the RPM trace etc, this is due to the engine simply being that lean it is running so bad the triggers are being effected. The answer to your problem is you need this engine to be tuned correctly by an experienced tuner. I am not saying your tuner cant tune, but maybe he is unfamiliar with the ViPEC system. I strongly advise against driving this car, until the tune is corrected. Regards Dave.
  10. Hi , very good too hear you have fixed the issue. Happy to hear it was just the port positioning. Regards Dave.
  11. Hi Nenad, I realise you had the RS 232 interface, was just making you aware of the physical upgrade required to activate CAN on your ecu. So which port do you have your dash connected to the same port as the programming lead or the bottom one. Regards Dave.
  12. Hi Stu, you will be fine to go from 4.8.4 to 4.10.2. If there was a much bigger span it would probably pay to take in steps. Just remember to recheck all settings etc to make sure nothing has changed or any new functions are set up correctly or zeroed put or turned off. Regards Dave.
  13. Hi there, Yes that is correct, I have had nothing to do with the DASH 2 but I assume it has RS 232 comms ability. Your ECU is pre 10 000 so it will not be CAN enabled, this is a physical modification. You need to send your ecu to link or an authorised Link/ViPEC dealer to have the CAN mod done if you want. I have done plenty. Regards Dave.
  14. Hi motionper, can you please email your pclr file to me at [email protected] What ECU are you using and can you give a description of your trigger 1 and trigger 2 setups, like tooth counts, missing teeth, Hall Effect or VR sensors etc, so i know what i am dealing with and what engine is it. What ignition coils etc are you using, are you using smart coils or an ignition module etc. Regards Dave.
  15. Hi Frosty, Kind of sounds like you are chasing a combination of Launch control and traction control. My question asking for what type of Launch control you were trying to set up was, 2D, 3D, Single or Latched mode. As i stated earlier there are no golden numbers anyone can just give you unless they have tuned and setup exactly what you have. Retarding the engine by more than 10 degrees to -20 - 30 or more plus adding fuel trim will add to launch boost and create the bangs and pops you want. Remember LAUNCH CONTROL and ANTI LAG are two very different things. This SHOULD be set up by an experienced tuner. Regards Dave.
  16. Hello, please find attached a demo file based off your original ALS setup being 80% tps AND 4000 rpm. I also found an issue with how you had your Digital input setup. and I have corrected that also. Please reread post number 8 by me regarding EGT temps etc. Regards Dave. mapa2_DAVE_1.pcl
  17. Hi, please try the attached PCL file, I have set this up very basically, and used your activation point of 80% THROTTLE POSITION as the basis of this file for ALS. Also your DIGITAL INPUT 4 was also setup as a falling negative trigger, but you had the active edge set to rising instead of falling. Use extreme CAUTION using this file as it is only to prove the system works. EGT (EXHAUST GAS TEMPS) and AFR MUST be monitored while using this mode. ALS is extremely harsh on engines and turbo chargers. Sorry wont let me upload anything I even tried a screen shot, my tune file is 37.5 Kb and says I have exceeded my limit ????????. Sorry cant attach the tune file Regards Dave.
  18. Hi Redmist, Firstly what port on the ECU are you using for CAN 1 or are you using a PNP ECU. Did you purchase a CAN CABLE or make one. Regards Dave.
  19. Hi Da'ninja, the G3 to G4 upgrade is just a paid for upgrade, it is very easily done. You need to contact your nearest dealer and purchase the upgrade code etc. Regards Dave.
  20. Hi Frosty, once again, right click go to What's This and read through the HELP files everything is in there. If there is something specific that is not covered in the HELP file please advise so it can be added in future releases. What MODE of Launch Control are you trying to setup. Regards Dave.
  21. Hi Igor, supplying a map for your combination is not very easy, I know you have listed some of your mods, but have not mentioned the ECU you are using, fuel injector size, fuel pump specs, compression ratio, fuel pressure etc etc etc. There should be a base map to suit a standard application in the software BASE MAPS folder. Load the MAP that best suits your engine, forget about mods, just pick the file that suits for example WRX 09 etc. I advise strongly, to take your car to an authorised LINK/ViPEC tuner. Regards Dave.
  22. Hi, I have downloaded your current file and will try to check it over the weekend for you. Regards Dave.
  23. Hi Justasg, this is an advanced feature that would normally be setup by a dealer, however you are welcome to try it ot and ask for assistance. This feature is really aimed at high end full sequential gearboxes, with bi directional strain gauges fitted. However you can still set this up using 2 digital inputs to let the ECU know of up shift and downshift. If you turn the function on and go to each setting, right click and click on the WHAT'S THIS and seek the HELP FILE will explain most of the setup. Regards Dave.
  24. Hi Mapper, I have an old V88 file for that engine with all of the logic setup for the twins etc to work. It would take some time on my behalf to sift through the literally thousands of PCL files I have. Regards Dave.
  25. Hi Frosty, there is no figure carved in stone as many factors contribute to this, engine displacement, compression, turbo charger design, header design etc etc. Normally I find a starting value of -20 gets you underway, but it all comes back to what launch boost your combination can make at what you also need. No use having 20 psi launch boost if you cant get traction out of the hole. Regards Dave.
