  1. Hi Michael, Your PCL FILE is your tune file that is in your computer. You need to find where in your computer you have installed the G4 PC LINK software, in your C DRIVE, My Documents etc. When you have located the folder it will be called PC LINK or G4 depends on how you saved it on installation. You need to double click on this folder, it will open, Inside will be sub directories BASE MAPS, LOG FILES, LAYOUTS ETC. Your PCL file will be in the BASE MAPS folder. So when you make your next post simply hit the Attachments bar below, by clicking the Browse button it will open directories in your laptop, If you found your G4 Folder previously in My Documents , then you select My Documents, then find the folder, open the Base Maps folder and double click on the PCL FILE that is in your ECU at present, then simply click post comment. If you are unsure of which PCL file is loaded, NORMALLY it will be the one with the latest date. Let us know how you go with that, Regards Dave.
  2. Hi Nick, there have been i88 topboard PNP units available for Skylines for some time now. You may have to check with Simon as to whether the ViPEC range will continue. I believe once all of the i88 range is sold out, they will be LINK G4+ range. I also believe they will be in their own case. I am not 100% sure but, so i will get Simon to answer you. Regards Dave. www.protuningcairns.com
  3. Hi Ed, your setup should be the same as my screen shot I have attached. I have setup ignition outputs 2,3 and 4 as random things just for examples. Regards Dave.
  4. Â Hi Joshua, Â the second plug is for automatic transmission cars. Regards Dave.
  5. Hi Michael, That is a different way of setting it up, but I guess it should work. Do you know how to use the software with a laptop. If so go to your AUX Output that is controlling the boost solenoid, change it from boost solenoid to test PWM and set the frequency to say 20%, touch the boost solenoid and see if you can feel it buzzing, reset the frequency to say 50 and the buzzing feeling should increase in speed. This is purely to test the electrical workings of the solenoid. While you are in test mode make sure you can blow through the port assigned as boost source from intercooler pipe to the top side of the wastegate. This will make sure that there is flow through the solenoid. Try these tests and report back, if you have any issues please post back. Regards Dave. Â
  6. Hi Damien, How are you mate I am not sure what those engineers get up to, apart from strange things with oscilloscopes and soldering irons. Just like you and everyone else I must wait also. Regards Dave.
  7. Hi Marcel, As you would know the V series reached it's limits as far as processor speed and ability and other hardware components within the ECU. When this was realised the I SERIES came into play. Unfortunately the i SERIES is far to different internally to simply upgrade a V series to an i SERIES. Remember I DO NOT WORK FOR ViPEC in any way shape or form. My PERSONAL opinion only, The purchase of an ECU at it's time of release and it's abilities and functions are no different to buying any other item. For example a laptop or television. You buy it and six months later they release a newer, smatter, faster, better one. Fortunately the V Series lasted a lot longer than that, quite a few years in fact. The engineers had simply stuffed it to bursting point with functions and abilities, it had to reach it's limits sooner or later. This did eventually happen and hence for the birth of the i SERIES. You still have an exceptional ECU, unfortunately your requirements that you wish for out weigh what the V88 is able to do. Just my personal opinion. Regards Dave.
  8. Hi Michael, OK, so you disconnected the solenoid and the boost only went to 14 psi spring pressure. This would indicate incorrect wastegate to solenoid plumbing or incorrect boost control software settings, as I understand it you never touched any software settings just pulled the engine and did a rebuild and reinstalled. So this leaves the plumbing. I have attached a diagram of how I set these up, if you boost control worked fine before as it was you don't need to fit the restrictors. The restrictors are only required if try to achieve a higher boost level when you base spring pressure is too low. Regards Dave.
  9. Hi Michael, sorry for my ignorance , but what do you mean by free boost. Do you mean it over boosts, Regards Dave
  10. Hi Damien, How are things in your part of the world. Regards Dave.
  11. Hi Robert, Did you by chance also attempt a firmware upgrade at the time. I would also check your ECU power supply, make sure that you haven't blown a fuse . When the ECU has no power the outputs switch to ground, however one would think your cooling fans etc would also come on. The power from the ECCS relay goes to ECU pin 38. If the ECU has no power then you will not be able to connect. Regards Dave.
  12. Hi, I have attached a basic example of setting up the logging parameters for you. I have just used one of each of the parameters as I don't know what engine you are running, I just used a Skyline PNP as an example. I don't know how many cylinders your engine is, I don't know if you are using individual cylinder knock sensing or group etc. Hope the attachment helps. Regards Dave.
  13. Hi, I forgot to add if you are using the distributor, you can turn the remaining unused ignition outputs to OFF. Regards Dave.
  14. Hi Ed, what Simon is asking is, Direct Spark , meaning you will no longer use the distributor and plug leads for the sparkplugs. You will be using coil on plug instead or remote mounted coils, this is direct spark. If you wish to retain the distributor then you can use the extra ignition outputs for auxillary outputs. Regards Dave.
  15. Hi, very strange. Are there any fault codes. Are there any loom connectors partially dislodged. Wiring loom rubbed through or similar. I don't know the time zone difference is where you are I am in Cairns North Queensland Australia. If you have internet access to your laptop, download free/private version of Team Viewer and I can log into your ECU and see if I can find anything wrong. However , to me something has failed, very rare for an ECU to die like that but not impossible. Do you have a timing light, or have you physically checked for any form of spark output. Can you post up the PCL file please. Can you go to ECU CONTROLS tab 3rd from the left, go to the bottom tab TRIGGER SCOPE, crank engine and hit capture I think it says, been awhile since I have used it. This will take a scope trace of your triggers and confirm if any type of signal at all. Was your original crank sensor Mag Reluctor or Hall Effect. If mag reluctor, is there any chance that the air gap had increased from a loose bracket etc. Regards Dave.
  16. Hi SNAKE ___1, I am sorry for your situation. So the engine has been running fine and then it has just stopped, you have no trigger 1 output and therefore no rpm signal. You obviously have a laptop to know these symptoms and to do a firmware upgrade, Can you press R or F12 on your keyboard to access RUNTIME VALUES, go to the triggers tab, crank the engine and check the trigger 1 and 2 signals and check for trigger error counter. Then go to the ECU STATUS TAB, check all of the ECU VOLTAGES make sense. You say you tried HALL EFFECT and MAG reluctor, do you mean you physically changed the sensors or changed the software sensors type. What type of sensors do you have on the engine for Trigger 1 and trigger 2 Regards Dave.
  17. Hi Shane, well activating that sure will help. Well spotted. Regards Dave,
  18. Hi Shane, Your PCL file you have uploaded is a PCL.TXT file, this can not be opened by the LINK software and there is no way of decoding the text file. You need to make sure the file is saved as a PCL file only. Regards Dave.
  19. Hi Shane, sorry the contact tab is under the more tab. The website is still under construction with heaps more to come, so I don't even know where things are. Regards Dave PRO Tuning.
  20. Hi Shane, You need to find where the LINK file is saved to, I always save these types of files to my C DRIVE but it could be anywhere. To make things easier for you if you go to my website www.protuningcairns.com and send me an email under the EXTRA's tab and the hit the CONTACT tab. Send me an email, I do remote tuning and have a remote computer software download program on my site. If you send me an email with your email address I will contact you, you can go to my remote tuning page and hit the remote tuning support download at the bottom of the page. This will allow me to log in and help look for issues etc. Regards Dave PRO Tuning. Â Â
  21. Hi Jose, Is the boost solenoid connected (electronically) Is the boost controller plumbed up correctly, hose connections to boost source and waste gate. Regards Dave.
  22. Hi Shane, can you post your tune file. How cold is it where you live at present. Have you calibrated the ignition timing correctly etc. Has the ECU been tuned or is this the first start up etc. Regards Dave
