    Trigger setup

The Monsoon is usually a good choice for a basic 4 cyl engine as it has a built-in map sensor and enough inputs/outputs to do a decent job. PS, Im going to move this thread to the G4+ section.
  2. Some of the VAG coils need a very strong pull-up to work but Im not sure about the R8 coils specifically. You can try the mod below to see if it works for you. Otherwise it will need to come back to us to have a stronger 8V pull-up fitted.
  3. Is your sensor about 30mm length from the flange to the tip like the drawing above shows? No I cant see a reason it would have worked with multitooth and no cam sensor, but Im also highly doubtful the cam sensor would have ever been able to generate a voltage with an 8mm air gap so it seems something has changed.
  4. Can you do a short log (have E-throttle in setup mode) and attach your tune file also.

Correct, this trigger will give you full sequential capability.
  6. Assuming the tuner has tuned the ignition to MBT and not just made the assumption that base timing was correct etc then there is not much influence the ECU can have on power output, that will mostly be related to compression ratio and airflow. I dont remember if I have tuned a 20V before but 85kW doesnt sound a million miles away from what I'd expect, they were only about 120kW at the flywheel brand new so you are going to lose some of that through the drivetrain. If it is lower than you expect I would be checking things like cam timing and compression.
  7. Yes you can do this. The Motec dashes have a fuel used calculation that can predict fuel used based on a few different types of inputs. With a Link ECU you would use the "Fuel Usage Value" method. If the ecu has been tuned using the traditional fuel equation then you use injector duty cycle as the fuel usage input channel. If your ECU has been mapped using the modelled fuel equation then you will get better accuracy using the "inst. fuel consumption" parameter (you will need to set this up to be sent from the ecu as its not in the generic stream). In either case it is an approximation and needs quite a bit of fiddling/testing to get it calibrated right.
  8. No that doesnt sound right at all. The gap would typically be less than 1mm. If you are sure of your measurement then it must have the wrong sensor fitted. Did it have a missing tooth crank wheel before with the V88? It would still start with a missing tooth wheel and no cam, but it wont work with a multitooth crank and no cam.
  9. I suggest you both downgrade to 5.6.5 for the meantime. I have passed the info on to engineering to fix but that could be several weeks.

Can you take a photo so we can actually see all of the wheel inside the distributor.
  11. So your "Spec C" car most likely has the water spray connected to the pin that the clutch switch is connected to. The clutch switch is normally DI4.
  12. Sorry, just edited my post, I must be half asleep. The clutch switch should be DI4, pin C25.
  13. Modelled mode has different fuel and injector settings for both fuels so it means you can often get away with a single fuel table if your injector data is good. There is no reason you cant do flex fuel in traditional mode - you still have mostly all the same table blending tools - just it will mean both the injector and fuel property differences will all be baked into the fuel tables.

There are several different G13 triggers. Does yours have a distributor with 4 evenly spaced teeth and 1 extra close spaced tooth?
  15. The only difference between having cam sync on or off (assuming it really is only one tooth) will be that with no sync the phase could change by 360 deg. So, that possibly means your offset is out by 360 deg so when you turn cam sync on your are firing on the exhaust stroke. Try adding or subtracting 360 from your current trigger offset value.
  16. In ECU firmware 5.6.6 we added a MXS specific dash stream which fixed the lambda scaling (basically it was off by a factor of ten). Another option is just to use a math channel in the dash to multiply by ten. If you email me your ecu and dash configs I can set up the boost status when I get a quiet patch. [email protected]
  17. Yes, looks good to me. I would only change the RPM filtering on the trigger setup page, this should be on 1 for most engines.
  18. No, there are no pre-defined injector calibrations - this is because injector characterisation has gotten much more complex than it was in the G4 days where it was just deadtime. Now for proper characterisation you have flow rate, short pulse adders, 3d dead times etc. This info should come from your injector supplier. Note the data for the predefined injectors that were in the G4 is still listed in the help file if you want it.
  19. Both before and after look pretty acceptable to me. I will say your factory CAS was working better than most RB's normally do however. The dwell scatter you have is quite acceptable and probably just valve train resonance bouncing the cam around a little. Voltage generated by a VR sensor is effected by tooth count and air gap. The voltage you see here is not too far off normal. You have a nice clean signal with little noise so arming threshold is probably not too important. Something like below should do it ok:
  20. This is the G4 forum and the picture above is from the G4 software. It looks like your ECU is a G4+ so it wont have that setting.
  21. Both 6A & 6AL should have spark edge set to rising. I expect you will have significant timing drift with RPM when set to falling.
  22. Are you using ECU firmware 5.6.6 and the "Transmit Link AIM MXS Strada" CAN mode?
  23. Correct, your cam is a hall. All pictures I could find of an "MSD Cam sync" showed a 2 wire sensor hence me suggesting to set it to reluctor.
  24. I would say it is unlikely a failed valve, I would rule out other possibilities first. Please keep your replies to your other thread to avoid confusion:
